These books all impacted me and if you have a friend who is looking to have an incredible 2017, then any of these will help them towards that goal. I have chosen books that inspire and inform and books that will make you want to get to working on those goals immediately. Some of these books are not new books, some are. There is a real variety to choose from. If you like the sound of the books, just click on the image to go through to Amazon to purchase them.
Books to Inspire and Inform
Shonda Rhime’s Year of Yes is for any woman you know who constantly turns down invites and opportunities.
Jo Malone’s My Story is for any woman who has a dream but isn’t sure where to begin. Jo shares her journey from a council estate to Buckingham Palace. If you can buy the hardback, many of them come with a scented page. Jo’s Pomelo fragrance makes reading this a sensory experience.
The Artist’s Way is a valuable introduction to the joy of Morning Pages and other techniques to help creative people calm the noise in their head so they can focus on what they need to do.
Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic (Creative Living beyond Fear) is for any woman who is not moving forward because they are scared of failing.
The Big Leap is a best seller and for a very good reason. This is for any woman scared of taking a big leap.
Finding your Element by Ken Robinson is for those women who are not quite sure what to do next, what is their talent, what can they offer, etc. Ken has one of the most popular Ted Talks, he is entertaining and very good at helping you to dig deep.
Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin is about habits. How we make them, how we keep them and why we need them. If you know a woman who has ideas but never seems to achieve goals, this is the book for them.
Denise Duffield-Thomas’ Lucky Bitch is great. This is for the woman in your life who has a dream but always seems to fail at the first hurdle. Denise talks though goals & the power of attraction in a funny self-deprecating way which will hit home with many.
The Power of Habit – similar to Gretchen’s book is all about habits. This looks more at the science of habit forming which may appeal to those who question everything and need to know why it will work before they commit to anything.
No Matter What from Lisa Nichols talks about her life and the changes she managed to make using the Law of Attraction. Lisa was a star of The Secret and her book shows you how she used this personally to create the life she wanted. This is great for those women who are looking for inspiration and want to know that anything is possible.
The Four Agreements is one of those books that stays with you long after you have finished reading. It explains what the four agreements are and why they make a difference. If you have a lady in your life who likes a challenge, then see if they can adopt the four agreements – all of which sound simple in theory but not so easy in practice.
Eat That Frog – Brian Tracey. This book explains the benefits of completing that one task you keep putting off. Adopting this practice can make such a difference to your day. If you have a lady in your life who procrastinates regularly, then this is the book for them.
Your best year is the perfect gift for any woman trying to combine work, marriage, and family life without sacrificing one for the other. Lisa walks you through planning for the year ahead in small steps, leading you by the hand as you plan for your most amazing year yet.
I thought it was just me is one of many books by Brene Brown. So often, we sit and think it’s just us who feel this way or act this way, so if you know a woman who has ever said these words to you, then this is the book to buy.
No Excuses is the book for any woman you know who never seems to get going. At the end of each chapter are a few exercises, helping to make the Land of Tomorrow (the place we live when we say we will get to something tomorrow) disappear.
As you can see, a bit of something for everyone. Some great books, all of which offer something different, even if the message is the same – you can do this!
What better way to show your support for the women in your life?
